ANSWERS WITH EXPLANATION

Answer1: A) 47.5 degrees
Explanation:
At 3 O'clock, Minute hand is at 12 while the Hour hand is at 3. Again the minute hand has to sweep through ( 30 x 5 ) ie 150° for reaching figure 5 to show 25 mins.
Simultaneously the Hour hand will also rotate for 25 mins. Thus starting from the mark, 3 the hour hand will cover an angle = (25 x 30) / 60 = 12.5°
Hence, Angle between Hour and the Minute hand = ( 60 - 12.5 ) = 47.5°

Answer2: B) 1440
Explanation:
Go on multiplying the given numbers by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
So, the correct next number is 1440.

Answer3: C) 1.20
Explanation:
(x * 5) = (0.75 *8)
X=6/5 = 1.20

Answer4: D) 8 months
Explanation:
Suppose B joined for x months . Then,  ( 85000 * 12 )/(42500 * x) = 3. or x = (85000 * 12) / (42500 * 3) = 8.
So, B joined for 8 months.

Answer5: A) 10
Explanation:
A's Salary  = 40% of B = 40% of (25% of C) = 40/100[(52/100)*100] % of C = 10% of C.

Answer6: B) 40
Explanation:
Let there be x pupils in the class.
Total increase in marks = (x * 1/2) = x/2.
x/2 = (83 - 63) => x/2 = 20 => x = 40.

Answer7: B) 2:1
Explanation:
Compounded Ratio:: When we compound two or more ratios with each other through product or multiplication, the result is simply a compound ratio.
Thus, the product of two or more ratios; i.e, ab: cd is a ratio compounded of the simple ratios a:c and b:d.
Required compounded ratio = (2/3 x 6/11 x 11/2) = 2/1.

Answer8: A) 10
Explanation:
Let the quantity of alcohol and water be 4x liters and 3x liters respectively
4x/(3x+5) = 4/5
20x = 4(3x+5)
8x = 20
x = 2.5
Quantity of alcohol = (4 x 2.5) litres = 10 litres.

Answer9: A) 10
Explanation:
Let the numbers be x and (100-x).
Then,x(100−x)=5*495
 =>  x2−100x+2475=0
 =>  (x-55) (x-45) = 0
 =>  x = 55 or x = 45
The numbers are 45 and 55
Required difference = (55-45) = 10

Answer10: C) 300
Explanation:
Let the number be x, Then
75% of x + 75 = x
=> x - 75x/100 =75
=> x =  300
