Accenture india head Rekha Menon becomes Nasscom’s first woman chairperson

Nasscom, the premier trade body of the IT industry has appointed Rekha M Menon, Chairperson and Senior Managing Director of Accenture India as its chairperson for the year 2021-22. She is the first woman to get this role in the associations 30-year history.  Alongside, Krishnan Raju, President TCS has taken over as the vice-chairperson for this financial year.

Earlier, Menon was only a member of the executive council of the representative’s body and succeeds U B Pravin Rao of Infosys as chairman of Nasscom. 

In her statement, Menon said that the Coronavirus pandemic continues to test the resilience of more than 4 million people, even as it has created new opportunities for growth with technology emerging as the lifeline for societies and economies all over the world. 

She further added that as we carefully navigate the ongoing pandemic, I look forward to working with the NASSCOM Executive Council and its members to drive our industry's long-term growth. She said her focus is towards expanding India's position as the digital talent nation worldwide, driving people-first innovation, and working with the government to create a conducive policy environment needed for sustainable growth. 

Nasscom also announced its new team of Executive Council that consists of 40% women leaders. It includes industry sectors like IT services, Research and development, Engineering, Business Process Management, Global Capability Centres, startups, Small and medium enterprises etc. The new Executive Council team will perform a very important and strategic role in enabling India’s tech sector to take leadership on the world map through focused initiatives and programmes.
